Jeanette Manfra
Global Director, Security and Compliance at Google | Former Assistant Director for Cybersecurity, Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA)
Jeanette Manfra is one of the most experienced U.S. cybersecurity officials. She is a former Assistant Director for Cybersecurity at the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). Currently, Manfra is a global director of security and compliance at Google Cloud.
Manfra has impressive leadership experience. As the cyber leader at CISA, Manfra oversaw a wide-ranging portfolio of programs to protect the country’s digital infrastructure, including strengthening election systems, locking down U.S. supply chains, fighting foreign disinformation, securing agency networks and improving the coordination of federal cyber strategy. She also served as the public face for many of the department’s cybersecurity initiatives, frequently speaking at public panels forums and representing the agency at high-profile conferences around the country. Manfra has advanced the cybersecurity posture of federal networks and has helped build stronger, more productive relationships with owners and operators of critical infrastructure to ensure that the federal government and private sector work together closely to make the cyber ecosystem more secure. She served as a steady hand through CISA’s transition to become an operational component, staying above the political fray to work with members on both sides of the aisle.
At the Department of Homeland Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, Manfra has been a key liaison with the private sector, laying out the agency’s approach to securing supply chains and industrial control systems. She led the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission of protecting and strengthening the nation’s critical infrastructure from cyber threats. Manfra led the efforts to secure the 2018 midterm elections, helping coordinate cybersecurity protections for local voting officials across the United States. At DHS, she held multiple positions in the Cybersecurity Division, including advisor for the Assistant Secretary for Cybersecurity and Communications and Deputy Director, Office of Emergency Communications, during which time she led the Department’s efforts in establishing the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network. Before joining DHS, Jeanette served in the U.S. Army as a communications specialist and a Military Intelligence Officer.
Jeanette served as Assistant Secretary for the Office of Cybersecurity and Communications (CS&C) for the National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD) before the agency became CISA in 2018. Prior to this position, Ms. Manfra served as Acting Deputy Under Secretary for Cybersecurity and Director for Strategy, Policy, and Plans for NPPD. Ms. Manfra also served as Senior Counselor for Cybersecurity to the Secretary of Homeland Security and Director for Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity on the National Security Council staff at the White House.
